To further breast cancer education and awareness, the Faith Support Ministry at Faith Baptist Church in Cabot is hosting a Brunch at 10 a.m. Saturday. All women in the community and surrounding areas are invited to attend.
This year’s program will focus on education. Sandra Bennett, BSN, RN, an Instruction Development Specialist with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, will present the latest information from the Komen Foundation and the American Cancer Society regarding risk factors and early detection. Statistics indicate one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime. An estimated 2,000 women in Arkansas will be diagnosed this year.
Who is at risk? You, your sister, your daughter, your neighbor, your mother, your niece are at risk. Women as young as 14 up to senior ladies in their 70’s or 80’s all need to be aware.
The Komen Mission is to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.

Do you have a child that is 3 or 4 years old? Have you heard about the Cabot HIPPY program? Then it’s time to see for yourself what HIPPY is all about and for you to become part of our HIPPY family. Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is a parent involvement, 30-week school-readiness program that helps parents prepare their 3- and 4-year-old children for success in school and beyond. The parent is provided, free of charge, with a set of carefully developed curriculum, books and materials designed to strengthen their children’s cognitive skills, early literacy skills, social/emotional and physical development. Along with the 30-week curriculum, HIPPY hosts a monthly group meeting for all the HIPPY families to come and have a good time with friends.

Each month your children will enjoy a themed meeting with story time, songs, crafts and special surprises. If HIPPY sounds like something you and your child would be interested in, call soon, as spaces are limited and it’s almost time to start lesson one. If you want more information please call Kelley Smith at 501-842-1737, or Michelle Barrick at 501-843-5693 or 501-941-9299.

There will be a dance at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Cabot the first Wednesday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m.
