The Jacksonville Dog Park Club will hold its first meeting of the year at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Jacksonville Community Center.
2007 will be a big year for dogs and their owners in Jacksonville. They will get to see the opening of the Jacksonville Dog Park in Dupree Park.
Those interested in being part of this celebration are invited to come meet and help raise funds and organize events for a grand park opening later this year.

A new 4-H Club is organizing in the area. The Lonoke Acorns and Shades of Green will merge their efforts to form a new, strong, 4-H Club. This meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Lonoke County Extension Service. The Ag Center’s address is 2001 Highway 70 East; next door to the National Guard Armory. Mark Perry is hosting a free informational seminar about Medicare benefits for people living with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, heart failure and other illnesses. The seminar will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Rebsamen Medical Center Education Building. The Cabot Theater, Drama, and Dance Department is rehearsing for a production of the musical “Oliver!” The cast incorporates students K through 12th grade. More than 140 students are involved in the production of the play.
Shelby Kirby, a seventh grade student from Cabot Junior High South, plays the lead role. She even cut her hair for the role and donated it to the Locks for Love program.
The production dates for the show are 7 p.m. next Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Fine Arts building at Cabot High School. Tickets are $7.
